Happy Anniversary!

It was two years ago this week that the Beware of the Rug blog came into being.  Originally the idea was to provide a way to keep in touch with family members but it has branched out.  Thank you to all of you who come and read these posts.  I appreciate those of you who contact me and share postcards and other information with me.  It is fun in turn to share things with others through the blog.  It has been delightful to meet and connect with cousins.  I enjoy taking photos and it is very nice to receive so many compliments about the pictures that appear.  I will continue to post things like the postcards and stamps and other items that I hope you will enjoy.

In case you are curious about the statistics--

From a very modest beginning with only a couple of page views per month the blog now gets almost 3,000 page views per month.  The total number of page views for the past 2 years is nearing 37,000.  Visitors look in from countries all over the world.

Thanks so much.

Beware of the Rug Anniversary

 Orchids, Volunteer Park Conservatory

I just realized that the blog had its one-year anniversary on 11 August.  Thanks to all of you who have visited and contacted me with additional stories, photos, comments, and connections.  I appreciate hearing from everyone.

I started writing and posting things here mainly to share family history, postcards and photos that I thought extended family members might enjoy.  It didn’t really occur to me that others would stop by and visit as well but they have.  There have been visits from many different countries and over 12,500 page views or slightly more than 1,000 views per month.  That amazed me.  I hope you have found some interesting things here and will continue to look in from time to time.  A modest little blog that helped me get through a year of grieving for the loss of my sweet husband has turned into an almost full time rewarding experience.  I’ve met several new “cousins” and made some new friends too.

The blog would never have come into being without the help of my daughter who got me started, did the layout, and showed me how to do a tiny bit of editing of the code.  I cannot thank her enough for all the many, many things she has done to help me this past year and not just with the blog.  Also my sons who keep in close touch and help with all sorts of things too.  Papa is smiling down on all of you from heaven.

Thank you everyone!

Thanks for the Beware of the Rug both of them

Doesn’t the blog look great? There wouldn’t be one at all without the Gimlet Tech support and all I had to do was feed her and heap lots of thanks too. In addition to her own blogs (Gimlet blog and Sinister Craftiness) and web page (Solitary Elegance) she has recently designed a web page for Christopher Robin Learning Center. They are all wonderful! Thanks so much, I really could not have done it all by myself.

Finally, stealing a beware of the rug from Gimlet blog and my grandson--when we went to get take out he asked what kind of toy he would get with his meal. When his mother told him a Smurf figure there was a pause and then the little voice piped up in question

“Smurf finger?”

And that is why, Mrs. Gimlet said, the chicken pieces are blue.
